She Says;
So here I am sat in my hotel room, scared out of my mind, but so excited because tomorrow we start the adventure of a lifetime. Travelling to New Zealand! I am unpacking and repacking my bags to ensure I have everything I need, as Ryan tells me to calm down as there is no way I can change anything now. (The only way he has managed to get me to sit in one spot is by putting Harry Potter on the TV).
We decided where we wanted to go for our working holiday by rolling a dice. We chose six places : New Zealand, Australia, Asia, America, Canada and Africa, and when we rolled it came up New Zealand !! Then we had to decide how we were going to do this. I managed to ‘convince’ Ryan that the best method was using Bunac Ultimate New Zealand package and that we should also join the Group Flights. So, after spending a lot of money (around £2000 each), we have a flight to New Zealand, 7 days of activities, with a 3 day stopover and activities in Hong Kong, as well as our visa’s sorted. So however much he moans about the cost, I think it will be worth it, but I guess time will tell. Hopefully, supporting me. 🙂
It was hard to prepare for this kind of holiday as you don’t know what’s going to happen after the first few weeks. So we’re going to make it up as we go along, which is very unlike me, but Ryan assures me is the Fun way. I’ll let you know if I agree.
So, tomorrow I board a plane to Hong Kong ( 12 hours almost), to start a dream, and I cannot wait ! Watch out Hong Kong, we’ll be with you soon.
He Says;
For me, it’s hard to know where to begin. It hasn’t quite set in yet that I’m going halfway round the world, with only one person tethering me to what was before. It probably hasn’t helped that unlike SOMEONE, who finished work at Christmas, I’ve been working right up to the day before i’m supposed to start travelling!
But never mind that. After what feels like an age, and £2000 later (two thousand pound!!), it’s finally time to start a new life in Middle Earth! (Seriously, £2000!). I’m not quite sure how I’ll feel being away from friends and family for so long, but fortune favours the bold, so I guess there’s nothing left to do now but to get on with it.
I suppose a good place to finish this first post is to talk about what I look forward too the most, and if I have any regrets at this early stage.
Hong Kong will be unlike any city I’ve ever been in before, with sites, smells and sounds all very new to me, who wouldn’t be excited about that!?
Regrets? Well you’d probably expect me to say stuff like; leaving my friends and family; paying £2000 for something I could arrange myself (seriously!!); not doing it sooner; etc etc…
But no, my biggest regret is the hair cut I got this morning. It’s shit.
Until next time!

Very good opening, love the different opinions. Also the regrets and the hopes. It will be interesting to look back in a year to see what has transpired. X
